Photo Log: Crouch, Idaho

Crouch is a quaint little town, population 162, that sits on the middle fork of the Payette river.  I was on my way north and stopped in for a quick shoot of a small log cabin.  I've always been quite enamored with it's 'downtown' which is all of one cross roads.  I decided to shoot some of the store fronts as they are reminiscent of days gone by.  After some photoshop magic, I recreated that vintage look and these are the results.  The only hitch in this giddyup was the Ford Explorer parked in front of one of the stores.  I'll just chalk that up to time travelers visiting that day.

Urban Farm in Eagle, Idaho

Despite the blustery weather, I had the opportunity to shoot this super cool urban farm nestled just across the street from Eagle high school.  Two and a half acres surrounds a very cute and updated farm house.  What I liked most was the small fruit orchard, complete with honey bees and surrounding garden boxes.  Chicken coops, grain storage, barn -- it was completely turn key. And after you're done working the fields during the day, you could bust out a artisan pizza in the wood fired oven off the back patio.  Enjoyed of course with an excellent glass of vino!

Mid Century Modern on Harrison Blvd

What a fun home to shoot!  This house was immaculate and perfectly staged.  Because the house was designed around an outside courtyard, the large picture windows throughout the house were really central to the photo taking opportunities.  And, I have to say, that I really appreciate a good clean window.  Crisp, clear windows can really make ahuge difference and one of the things that can make photos really pop.

Remodeled Mid-Century Modern... WOW!!

I've taken a lot of photos over the years and have come to know where the best locations in the valley are for buying a house (at least in my opinion!)  After all, it's all about location, location, location.  Well, this house has got to be one of the best remodels I've seen. While maintaining the integrity of the original house , everything has been updated, upgraded and boy oh boy, the lighting was superb.

The Main Payette

This summer, my son got a job as a river guide for Cascade Raft and Kayak.  He basically lives out of his tent at the company campground and has the Boise National Forest as his playground.  This past weekend, he took his sister and a friend for a trip down the Main Payette.  So decided to drive up to Banks to document the historical event.  I bopped from rapid to rapid, driving like a crazed mother and obsessed photographer to get the next location before the raft did.  Here are a few shots from my endeavor..  Couldn't be prouder of my boy!!

CONFESSION: I was so excited that I ended up messing up the white balance setting on my camera and most of the photos turned out with a blue color cast.  Thank god for Lightroom!

Day Trip: Leslie Gulch

Just about a two hour drive southwest of Boise towards Jordan Valley, Oregon, you can find a beautiful hiking spot that leaves one in awe.  There are incredible lessons in geology to be found, dating back to when volcanic activity from the Yellowstone hotspot occurred here some 15 million years ago.  The intriguing “hoodoo” formations are on full display once fully immersed in the cathedral of nearby Timber Gulch.  How lucky are we that we have such easily accessible areas to get your vibe on!

Salmonella: UGH!!

I recently found out that I was indeed infected with the Salmonella virus that was sourced from one of my FAVORITE places in Boise, the COOP.  I shop there almost once a week and have been a member for 23 years.  I can tell you that I have NEVER EVER been so sick in my life.  Childbirth was a cinch compared the gut bomb of black death that Salmonella was.  Miraculously, I was able to make all of my appointments that I had scheduled...  albeit very gingerly.
